Matt Cantrell, DVM, CCRP

Owner & Veterinarian

For Dr. Matt Cantrell, Velocity Vet is more than a veterinary practice—it’s the realization of a vision that has been taking shape for nearly two decades.

An Avon native and 2002 graduate of Avon High School, Dr. Cantrell attended Purdue University, graduating with Highest Distinction with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 2006. He went on to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010.

Dr. Cantrell’s interest in veterinary rehabilitation began while he was still in veterinary school. He saw the potential for physical rehabilitation to help pets recover from injury and surgery, improve mobility, manage discomfort, and ultimately enjoy a better quality of life. That passion would become a driving force throughout his career.

In 2013, Dr. Cantrell founded Community Pet Healthcare, a general veterinary practice dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care. As he continued to pursue his interest in rehabilitation medicine, he completed Vet-Stem’s Regenerative Stem Cell Introduction and Orthopedic Use Credentialing Course and became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) through the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015.

Two years later, he founded Indy Pet CORE, Indiana’s first standalone veterinary rehabilitation center. In 2026, that vision evolved into Velocity Vet—a center devoted to veterinary rehabilitation and led by skilled, caring professionals committed to helping pets move better, feel better, and live more comfortably.

Dr. Cantrell considers Velocity Vet a dream come true and an extension of his larger goal: to make a positive impact on the people, pets, and community around him. He hopes the practice will be a trusted resource for families and their pets for many years to come.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Cantrell enjoys the active life he shares with his wife, two children, and Bailey, one very happy Golden Retriever.
